| 10 teams, 20 roster spots, start 12, roto, 9 cats (TO's). We can basically keep any 2 players from any round forever, for free. Those being the circumstances heading into the draft, I naturally draw the 10 spot. So my draft goes: Bosh-Allen-Gasol, with the assumption being that I'd probably keep Bosh and Gasol. I'd won this league 5 years straight until last year, and I have 2 qualms about putting Ray Allen back in the draft. 1)He's ranked higher than the other two guys 2) I haven't had to try to win threes without him in 6 years, since I've always drafted/traded for him. But he's old, and if I'm gonna keep someone forever, it might as well be the two young bigs right? Sucks that Bosh loses C elligibility next year though. Stupid Garbage-Hoser. Also, I'm trying to work a deal that sends Captian Caveman... er, Gasol and Andre Miller for Gilbert and Chandle-Bomb. But naturally I'm having a hard time convincing the Gilbert owner he'd rather keep Gasol. I bet I could get Dwight Howard right now (Gasol and help perhaps?), but the FT% and TO's worry me. Ideally I'd like to end up with Bosh/Howard/Gasol type (pts/rebs/blks) and a Gilbert/CP3 type (pts/ass/3's). What would you do?

My view would be to try to come up with the two most valuable players going into next year, not "force" a situation where you have one big player and one guard. This is, of course, assuming that you're not undermining your chances for this year. I would put significant weight on this year's situation - not necessarily getting the best two players for next season. Make sure you evaluate which cats you can move up in before you make a trade.
Assuming you're out of the running this year, though, Bosh is the easy call - hold onto him if at all possible. Gasol is a little bit riskier because he could end up with another team and his role could change to some extent. Allen should be fine next year, but I don't think he's significantly better than Gasol. So if you really need to focus on next year, why not try to package Gasol plus Allen for Gilbert and perhaps a secondary player? You've moved up in terms of keepers and I would imagine the other owner would go for that. You could also try for D.Wade, who doesn't get 3PM but helps you in a lot of other stats and has a much better FG%.
And welcome to the TMR Boards - there's a lot of excellent posters and back-and-forth discussions, so you should always be able to generate a variety of opinions.
