My first AL only leauge, my first auction league, and I'm more experienced with H2H than roto...so with that triple threat I decided to try to follow Pete Becker's advice for drafting an Max Relief Innings pitching staff. Lemme know how you think it turned out...Thanks!
(The 5 guys *starred* were keepers from last year, I took over the team from some guy that had to leave the league.)
C 3 G. Zaun
1B 20 L. Overbay*
2B 4 A. Hill
3B 43 A. Rodriguez
SS 1 J. Uribe
OF 44 C. Crawford
OF 13 C. Monroe*
OF 7 J. Payton
OF 5 G. Matthews*
OF 3 Rondell (Ron-DL?) White
INFIELD 12 R. Shealy
UTIL 13 F. Thomas
P 46 Santana*
P 10 Felix*
P 19 Dotel
P 7 Bonser
P 3 Crain
P 1 Dennys Reyes
P 2 Neshek
P 3 Danks (CHI-Sox)
P 1 A. Miller (Tigers)
B 0 Luis Vizcaino
B 0 Farnsworth
B 0 Calero
B 0 Mike Napoli
B 0 Cameron Maybin
B 0 Melky Cabrera
I'm planning on moving Danks and Miller to the bench and using Calero and Farnsworth/Vizcaino as P (5 middle relievers, 1 closer, 3 SP) but wanted to have some young pitchers maybe with upside that could wind up being cheap keepers for next year. We have 950 IP Minimum, so if all my MR don't throw enough innings I'll have to add a 4th SP to make sure I get over the limit. I think if I move a guy from my bench to the active roster, he costs a dollar, the auction budget was 260 but the in season budget is a lil higher to allow some room for trading and free agent pickups.

Looks good. You have speed, power, 2 excellent starters a cheap closer. Payton is going to start the year on the DL so you are going to get zero production out of that spot for a few weeks though.

The league is hosted on CBS sportsline. Using their projections, the offense (starters only) projects to about 950 Runs, 950 RBIs, 250 Homers, 100 SB, and a .280 avg. Similarly the pitching (playing Farnsworth and Calero, sitting Danks/Miller) projects to almost 80 wins, 40 saves, 1,000 Ks, a 3.4 ERA and a 1.2 WHIP.
I didn't yet look at the same projections for every other team in the league but comparing these numbers to last years final standings my team would have finished in third place. This comparison showed that I would have finished in 8th place in SB, Wins, and Saves. I don't know how much I can really change the pitching staff, but I could try to acquire a few more SBs. Is it likely to be worth the effort?
