I have a weak outfield that I would like to improve on. I like my team except for OF.

My 10-player reserve roster only has three player of note: Juston Upton $2 (drafted 2006), Mike Pelfrey $10 (drafted 2006) and B. Fuentes $3 (OPT). The other guys are in the minors or injured.

I have been offered J. Pierre $34 (drafted 2006) and B. Wagner $37 (drafted 2006) for J. Upton $2 (drafted 2006) and M. Jacobs $10 (2 year contract).

I can gain one point in steals. I can gain two points in saves with this trade. I don't think the trade equals the potential Upton has; however, I could potentially slip to third place. I am considering a counter offer of Pierre, Wagner and O. Hernandez $4 (drafted 2006) for Upton, Jacobs and Pelfrey, but I don't think the other owner will consider it. I could gain a few points in wins, if Hernandez wins a few more games.

I think the team in first place is out of reach with 73 points. He is solid in most categories, and I think he may even gain a point or two. I basically would be fighting for second place. Should I trade Upton or keep him for next year? I can sign him to a $12 (2 years) or $17 (3 years) contract for next season only if he makes the team.

Should I finish the season with the team I have and go into 2008 with a strong offense or should I trade Upton and try to solidify my chances for second and maybe sneak into first with dumb luck? I am leaning towards keeping my team as is, but I could gain points with the above trades.

I recently traded Brian Roberts to the Chase Utley owner for Sabathia. Now that same owner, in third place behind me by 9.5 points, has offered Griffey for Lackey straight up. Although I am looking to get another above-average outfielder to complement Sizemore while I wait for Pence to return, Griffey just doesn't seem to be the one. This owner's other top flight hitters are Sheffield, Glaus, Ordonez, Matsui, Burrell and Thome - though I doubt he'd trade any of those except for Burrell.

My question is this: Would the addition of Griffey really add anything to my offense (where I lead three categories outright, and am in third in two others for a total of 56 points)? While I know losing Lackey would defeat the whole point of having added Sabathia.

I just need an outside opinion on what you think Griffey and Lackey are going to do over the next two months.

Standard Yahoo redraft league, 12 teams, mixed, 5x5, roto. I'm currently sitting in sixth place with 70.5 points, which is within 6 points of third place, and 11.5 points behind first place. The trade deadline is next Sunday, August 12th. My current roster is:

C - McCann; 1B - Morneau and A. Gonzalez; 2B - Kent; 3B - Glaus; SS - HanRam; OF - Cameron, Swisher, Melky Cabrera; Pence, Wigginton, Adam Jones.

SP - Peavy, Lackey, Haren, Lincecum, Wang, Bonser

RP - Capps, Jones, Hennessey, Benoit

Offensively, this team just hasn't come around yet, with just 24.5 points. Except for home runs (9 points), I have no more than 6 points for the remaining four categories. On the other hand, pitching is my strength, and I have a total of 46 points, good for second behind only the first place team.

Now the trade offer...

I've gone back and forth with the owner currently sittin in 9th place, who has only two starting pitchers, and a wealth of offensive talent: Saltalamacchia, Teixeira, BJ Upton, A-Rod, Tejada, Abreu, C. Lee, Bay, Braun, Hart, Thome, Pierre, and Dmitri Young. We've been countering for a few days for some combination of Peavy/ Lackey/ Haren/ Lincecum for Lee/ Pierre/ Thome/ Young. The current offer is Lackey and Haren for Lee, Pierre, and Thome.

In a league this deep, there aren't a whole lot of quality pitchers left, although Jeff Francis, Kason Gabbard, Greg Maddux, Dustin McGowan, Tim Wakefield, Bronson Arroyo, and Dave Bush are still free agents.

My biggest concern is how much of a drop off in my pitching will I have by letting go of Lackey and Haren, and having to replace them with one or two of the guys above? Offensively, the trade helps me where I need it (in the outfield mainly).

Please offer an opinion on this trade, and if there is a good counter-offer to be made involving other players.

came into the season as a heavy favorite, i think. it hasn't quite worked out. i'm hanging in 2nd, but the 1st place team looks nearly unbeatable, barring injuries/huge slumps. i'm not totally ready to give up, but it's not looking promising. so i don't wanna sell the farm any more than i already have (traded 1st/4th round pick next year for Sheets about 4 weeks before he got hurt).

So, I've been offered a couple options, and i wanted to bounce it off some other heads.

1, I was offered for Cory Hart, Jorge Posada, and Ian Snell for Matsui, Phil Hughes, and Felipe Lopez. I like this because I think Matsui is getting older, Hart is a great keeper option, and I generally don't trust young pitching (though Hughes is the best young pitcher available, in my mind -- I just have Young and Lackey at the same time, and Sheets to get CGs). But, I feel like I'm giving up a lot in the deal. What are the projections on Hart? Is it worth it?

2, I was offered Granderson, though I'm not sure what for yet. Probably high pick(s), maybe even 2009 picks. My question is, is he a better keeper option than Andruw Jones and Jason Bay at this point? I mean, I've gotta think both are going to have much much improved second halves, based on both their track record and the law of averages, but still. Granderson is looking like he'll score 120 runs, go 20/20, and hit .300 with 80 RBI. Is Granderson worthwhile?

Is Hart the better option?

3, what is the deal with my keeper situation??? Do I really need to do anything to improve it? Vlad/Wright/Prince/Lackey/Chris Young are no-brainers. But, who do we like out of Sheets, Hughes, Matsui, Bay, and Andruw Jones to round out my last 3 keepers? Of all those people, I'm most worried about Bay, who I fear will not be running as much, and will turn into a .280/35 HR/100 RBI guy. not bad, but not what i traded for when i acquired him.

Crawford, Pierre, or Reyes?

I'm in a 14 team mixed league with big rosters (14 batters, 9 pitchers, 12 bench spots). I am 7th out of 14 and am trying to make a deal for runs and sb while punting RBI and HR--already last in both. I know...not smart to punt 2 categories, but there's little chance of significant improvement in either. As far as pitching goes, the only categories I can make significant leaps is Wins.

I've been offered the following trades:

I give: Holliday (Starter)/Jack Wilson (Bench) I get: Crawford/Wakefield
I give: Holliday/Youks I get: Hunter/Pierre (I would probably then trade Hunter for more speed)

Right now I am 5th in my league but only 7 games back but 9 points up on the 6th place team and 12.5 on the 7th place team. With 6 teams making the playoffs I could survive until Sheets and Hughes come back and continue pitching like aces (fingers crossed).

The team I'm trying to trade with has Verlander, Beckett, Harang, Bedard, and Lincecum. My impression is that they overvalue Bedard, and I think they undervalue Beckett. This is the first reasonable offer I've been able to get from them. Would you accept this or try to get more?

Lincecum for I-Rod?

I emailed the I-Rod/McCann owner in my 10 team 5x5 ML to see if he was interested in dealing either McCann or I-Rod for Felix Hernandez or Lincecum. He offered me I-Rod for Lincecum. My question is: Is that a good deal or should I hold on to Lincecum? Or do I counter with Lincecum for McCann? My current SPs are: Escobar, Hamels, Bonderman, Harang, Lincecum, Gallardo and Felix. I also have Randy Johnson on the DL. So I've got lots of depth to work with. I'm currently starting Doumit at C, but Jason Varitek, Ramon Hernandez, Michael Barrett and Mike Napoli are on the FA list as well. I'm in first place with a nine point lead. I thought having a good catcher would help solidify some of my hitting stats for the stretch, but I'm not sure I-Rod is much better than the guys on the wire. Should I just hang on to Lincecum?

Do I try and make a trade for Bedard and pick up corpas as a back up closer, or just go ahead and pickup Garza? Also keep in mind that he is in 2nd place and feels he needs to make a move. Whereas I'm fairly comfortable, but wouldn' mind losing Abreu+Gange for Bedard. But not sure if that's a good idea, especially considering Garza's on the FA.

So, I've been maintaining my first place lead in my h2h league, with almost a 30 game cushion. We have 23 categories, with a handful of negatives (caught stealing, strikeouts, pitching losses, homers allowed). I have tremendous depth across my entire team:

C - Martin

1B - Morneau and Swisher

2B - Figgins and Hudson

3B - Atkins, Zimmerman, Figgins

SS - Rollins

OF - Crawford, Manny, Torii Hunter, Corey Hart

SP - Peavy, Haren, Lackey, Felix, Snell, Lincecum, Gallardo, and Hughes (dl)

RP - Putz, Jones, Myers (dl)

I'm trying to free up a roster slot for either Hughes or Myers, and this trade does that. Is Zimmerman and Felix too much to give up for Braun alone? Braun seems to be a definite upgrade over both Atkins and Zimmerman.

The same owner may also trade me Hunter Pence for Manny Ramirez straight up. Though I'm not sure about that one right now, as ManRam could get hot, and Pence return to normal.

Need some input from C-Dub and Ian please.

regardless of the rest of the categories - would you rest easy with this straight swap... hr's for sb's trade off with some lost RBI..? I just see Rios's magic 27 year on the horizon and his monster season already.

I'm thinking that's solid but need my reassurances from the TMR faithful. Either that or a direction of how I may be misguided...

I am comfortably ahead in steals and would only lose 1 pt max (26 ahead of 3rd place, 41 ahead of 4th). His current offer is Griffey/Rollins for my Reyes/Abreu. I am inclined to decline as I still have hope abreu can have a good 2nd half but more importantly because i feel im not getting enough in return? fair assessment? Our offensive categories arent traditional we count everything- r, h, 1b, 2b, hr, rbi, bb, sb, avg, obp, ops. Would this deal be fairer if T. Hunter was included instead of Griffey? Or should I try and put Cuddyer in the deal (who i do not think will play as well as Abreu this half)

Gabbard's pretty much my throw-in guy for the week and I picked up Overbay today to offset the possible loss of Lee. Burnett and Dempster are on my DL and Johnson is parked on my bench injured. I pretty much lead or am near the top of the league in the offensive categories (BA, HR, RBI, R, SB), but am average to below average in the pitching (ERA, WHIP, W, SV, K).

So the question: Is this a good deal to take? I'm thinking I can get her to accept a 7th or 8th round pick, but even if not, is that a good deal?

Bay on the Block

An owner in my league (10 team H2H 5x5) still has Jason Bay on the trading block and I'd like to pick him up cheap. He's weak at 1B (Dmitri Young), 2B (Mike Fontenot) and 3B (Brandon Inge). He's also got Markakis on his team, who I think could be in store for a big second half.

My outfield is pretty packed with Crawford, Vlad, Holliday, Pence, and Abreu. I think Bay would be an upgrade over the last two. I've also got Chipper Jones riding the pine as Braun has stepped in as my new (and healthier) third baseman. I've got 2B depth as well with B. Roberts and Kinsler, although Kins is on the DL.

Two questions: Should I try a package deal or something straight up? And depending on which, what would be a good offer to try?

Well the trading partner where the Pujols deal did not work, we have worked out another possible deal. Chris Carpenter for Homer Bailey and Justin Germano. I think it is a good deal for me, gets me the pitching I need right now try to make a run at it and Homer should be a good keeper prospect. Any thoughts?
