ya i was at the cottage when i found out about the Hossa and De Vries for Heatley, i was getting ready for the night of drinking around the bon fire while the news hit their sports roundup and being here in Ottawa, it was all the talk in the papers for a few daysthis trade improved Ottawa's odds from 12 to 1, to 10 to 1 for winning the Stanley Cup...why?this year...id much rather have Hossa, sure this move frees up the 2 million plus that De Vries was making, and Heatley is making 4.5M this year, but the local papers could not get over how risky this deal is with Heatleys left eye, since the injury hes been off and on, more off than on... they say if its not 100% it will affect his depth perception, Heatley insists his eye is not a problem but i guess us Sens fans are going to have to wait and seehopefully this lets us lock up our defenseman next year, Chara is killerRobert Esche is solid

personal reasons... i think ive said it many times, but ill say it againwhen Esche was 16 he moved here to Ottawa to play for the Competitive Junior A team... the Gloucester Rangersour neighbour was the teams trainer and also billeted Rob, me and my 2 brothers were at the age where our parents wanted to get us out of the house, we were like 8-11 or something. and so they took us to the Rangers games for 2 bucks or whatever.few games into the season a player got traded to the Rangers and he (Doug Shephard) also billeted with my neighbour, so here u have a couple teenagers living in the same room, kinda cramped... and i guess they clashed a bit, so my parents offered Esche the room im in right now, and he accepted to move next door.he lived with us for like a year, whereas me and my 2 brothers were all cramped into a single room... he used to bring some of the guys over in the basement which was unfinished and wed play ministicksanyway, weve kinda followed Esche's progress since thenRobert Esche is solidI have a fan base, check it out: http://www.talentedmrroto.com/forum2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=26654

i heard (don't remember where) that the Pens are thinking of limiting Fleury's games drastically this year, they were talking about giving him 20 games. that leaves a lot of games to fill in and Thibeault is a good candidate if he can stay healthy. then if Thibeault gets injured you still have more than a decent option in Fleury. i think they're bringing Fleury on too slowly though.

i think Pete said it best in the TRUM recently when he asked "what is Kariya thinking?" the Preds???? they are an ugly team and what reason is there to play there? i can't believe that he's gonna win anytime soon. he's only got who? Legwand to play with on that team? who else? i don't remember.last season (the last season we had, rather) i put Kariya high on my draft list knowing that on the Avs he'd get some significant time and play with great players. on top of that he's eligible at LW which is the toughest spot to fill in terms of position scarcity. now he's on the Preds and will have 2 bodies around him at all times. i'm dropping him WAYYYYY down my list.

The Leafs sign JASON ALLISON to a 1 year contract. I'm sure he's had enough time off to get over his concussion problems. During the TIE DOMI press conference announcing his 2 year 2.5 million dollar deal, the question was posed to GM JOHN FERGUSON whether or not the Leafs would sign ALLISON. His response was that the Leafs were very interested in him, but they were waiting to get ALLISON'S medical results back clearing him to play. I feel that ALLISON is an upgrade over a brittle and older Joe Nieuwendyk. If ALLISON can return to form, he will provide the Leafs with a dominant and highly skilled second line center that will take the pressure and focus off of MATS SUNDIN in 5 on 5 and the power play.
