There has been talk about what to do now, where did everybody go, and we miss the old TMR neighborhood.

Well - I built us a new place to meet.

Rotopass has been a great landlord (thanks!), but we don't know what will happen to our accounts if we don't renew with Rotopass. New members wanting to join has also been troublesome.

This is a shout out to all the great posters who used to call TMR.com home. Please come back, we miss you! If everyone did just a little, the new site could have that same vibe as the old place did.

If not us, who? If not now, when?

New Members?

Am I correct in that there is no way to get new members for the boards unless they sign up for RotoPass? There is no option to just have a board membership, correct?

I've been looking to get some new recruits for the boards to bring some life back here but it's going to be awfully hard without them able to see or use the boards. Any help would be much appreciated.

According to the bottom of the page, our last new member was from 7/26. That's 3 months ago! This is not good news.

We can only remember that we communicated in the ether in good fellowship. Indeed, "The Atavist" was born here, and for one brief moment there was him a Camelot in the mists of this fine ether.

Web sites come and go, so getting emotional over a site disappearing is not really logical, yet I have to say I am more than a little sad to see this site fade off into the ether of the Internet. As many of you, I have been with the site since its inception, having made the migration from small Yahoo! group to full blown web site. First off, I would like to thank TMR for allowing me to be a part of his site, and Pete for allowing me the privilege of writing for what was the best fantasy sports site on the web. I would be remiss if I did not thank all of the editors who did a fine job of making me look like a much better writer than I am, so thank you David Young, Brian, Christopher, Nando and Janet. Also a big thanks to all of my NFL News guys who did a great job bringing our readers the news each week, all the designated posters who made my life so much easier, all of the chat hosts who provided excellent advice night in and night out. A big thanks to Dave Hunter for running the best message boards on the world wide web; Ian, Lloyd, Guy, Todd (Telestar), Bstone and everyone who has made my life easier by providing advice I could agree with without elaborating on.

Most of all, I would like to thank all of you for making this site so special. This message board – and site -- was more than a message board, it was a community. A place where each night one could join the chat and wind up talking about anything from sports, to TV, to movies to midget porn. I have had the honor of making friends with many of my fellow columnists and some of the members of the site, and feel fortunate for having the chance to have virtually met all of you in one way or another. Even when my advice has been incorrect you have always treated me with respect, even when at times I have questioned whether I deserved that respect.

I only wish I could better express what you all have meant to me, and through what the site has meant to me. Unfortunately, sarcasm is my forte, which has little use in this case. I also know that these boards will continue in some form, but still I sense as if a chapter of my life is closing with this site. It was a very special chapter, and I am glad that you were all a part of it. So thank you everyone.

I can only hope that the information we've all been giving you this past year was helpful and timely. I just wanted to get out here and praise the job that the TMR and his staff have provided for all of us rotoheads. I was a part of the original group at Yahoo when Matthew started up there. I can't tell you how much time I have spent reading TRUM's, columns and posts on the message boards. This site was the best thing that fantasy sports has ever offered up to people looking for information and entertainment. The professionalism of everyone involved is greatly appreciated by this fan. I was privileged to have been a very small part of the message boards due to the generosity of Dave Hunter, he gave me a slot as a designated poster and I enjoyed it immensely. Thank You Dave!!! I will follow the site to ESPN and will hopefully continue to be a part of the message boards wherever they end up. I raise a toast to the entire staff.

Question on membership

Hi. I've been a very happy premium subscriber for the past few years. My subscription ends this Friday (7/27). I've always valued the insight and information that was exclusive to this great site. I've had auto-renew lined up since last year, but with the impending move to ESPN I'm not sure what to do. I love the content and writers and really found alot of value for $30 per year since virtually nobody else in any of my leagues knew about this site.

With the "mainstreaming" of the TMR content, I feel as though I'll be losing the edge afforded by being a member of this exclusive community.

I just dropped my auto-renew. Someone please explain to me why I should renew come Friday?

I knew that Matt was hired by ESPN, but until I went looking for the 2007 Football Draft Kit here today, I had no idea that this site was being lined up for the firing squad in the near future . . .

I haven't seen a GTR, 60 feet, relief efforts, or a number of other articles that used to be available for quite some time. TMR's article is done, I haven't seen one from Pete in a while, David Young seems to have vanished, Srini writes occassionally, and there are a whole host of others that seem to be missing. Are any of these articles going to be returning?

While I am disappointed that I don't feel TMR is what it used to be (and no I don't want my money back), I'd just like to know what the plan is for the future. Will baseball coverage revolve around divisional updates with the odd topic specific article or will these other writers and articles be returning?

TMR shutting down?

Could someone tell me why there has been no fantasy football content added to TMR since February? One could only conclude that the site is either abandoning football or in the process of shutting down.

That would be a shame, because I won't be following TMR to ESPN.

Concerned Member - Topic Revisited

I'm a huge TMR supporter - I go back to his Rotoworld days and have followed him over here and always supported him through the years. That being said, I am now becoming very concerned about what has happened to this site. The message board is a shell of what it used to be and the Live chats used to be great and now only have only a few people participate. The Designated Posters are absolutely awesome however it is quite clear that the traffic has dwinded down signifcantly on the boards.

I did notice that the Football Draft Kit has been up on ESPN for about a week now. Meanwhile the NFL content on TMR has not been updated since last season.

I know the writing is on the wall and ESPN is priority number one but we are paying subscribers here as well. Everyone keeps saying be patient and TMR will take care of you but there comes a point where you just begin to feel forgotten and that is how I am starting to feel.

Sorry to vent, I hope this message gets to the ear of TMR as it has been a while since we have heard from him on his site.

First of all, I know you get a ton of emails with complaints and problems. Its got to be annoying and I want to say upfront that this message is not meant to convey a negative message to you.

Quite the contrary, I have been with you since the beginning. The very beginning. The beginning of this site and even when you first started writing for other websites which shall remain nameless. I think your advice and analysis has always been awesome and spot on. I read a ton of stuff, and without a doubt, you are the best fantasy analyst out there today. When you wanted to start charging for the site, I didnt care a bit. You deserved it and your were correct when you outlined many times how nominal the fee was compared with the value.

So I am worried about what has been going on lately. The TRUM was always something you could count on each and everyday. I looked forward to a cup of coffee and reading what you had to say each day. The best and most valuable article each week has been your personal one- TMR.

Lately, the TRUM has been missing many days during the course of a week or coming out late in the day if it shows up at all. Look at this week, we have a TRUM from Mothers Day last Sunday and now one from Fri. When was the last time you wrote a TMR Baseball article? You used to write them every week and timed it so you could work your daily transactions in light of its advice.

Look, I know you are busy. Movie stuff, ESPN, television apperances, etc. and you deserve all this success. You have made a lot of personal and professional sacrafices for this site, but I am worried that with everything you have going on its quality has started to suffer. The team you have put together is very good, and Becker is great, but its you that most people who have been here since the beginning want to read and hear from.

You sold the site and when someone sells a business its not uncommon for the principal to hang around a bit for the transition period to keep clients and then fade out. If that is what is happening here, I would just like to know. I, along with most of your long time followers, will be bummed to hear it, but its better than waiting for you to get re-engaged only to find out its not going to happen.

I hope you take these comments positively. I think I speak for a lot of the members when I say that we want your level of involvement to get back to what it used to be. Regardless of how it plays out, thanks for everything you have done over these many years.

"Bust A Move" is basically "Three Up, Three Down" on ESPN's fantasy focus video minus Molly Qerim...no offense Will, but she's much easier on the eyes.

Before I paid for membership at TMR I pondered long and hard and wondered if I was really missing out not being able to read those premium articles. Then I joined and discovered...I WAS missing out. Sadly now...I don't feel the same way anymore.

Congrats on all the success and new responsibilities over at the sports leader guys...dunno if it's just me or if I echo the sentiment of a lot of the readers over here...but I'd just like to say...I miss you guys and all the insight you guys provided that used to be exclusively for us here at TMR.

MLB Daily Notes

I understand that this site has been taking flak lately, so I certainly don't want this to come off as ungrateful. Furthermore, I am eternally appreciative of all everyone does at this site. There are daily free articles for multiple sports, plus an irreplacable TRUM.

That being said, I'm wondering if the MLB daily notes are going to be posted here. I read in today's TRUM that the daily notes were posted on ESPN, so I see they are being written. The daily notes are my favorite daily reading I enjoy in my mornings, so I was just wondering if I would have to start looking for them at ESPN.

chaps, i posted this in the baseball section but it was ignored....why are the articles ( no "Are you for real" yet) not appearing. Four hours ago "Are you for Real" was on ESPN.

i have checked ESPN on most days and they have the articles up first - i like to come here becasue for 2 years it has been so good amd hence i paid up again this year but it does feel like the site is fast becoming a poor relation to ESPN now. the Insider membership would help when it arrives as i couldn't read "Hardcore."

I hope TMR is not going to forget his roots.

TRUM withdrawl

I'm struggling with TRUM withdrawl. These every few day doses are simply not enough.

I don't want to come across as an ungrateful jerk, but I find myself checking the website several times a day to see if the TRUM has been posted.

In an ideal world there'd be a TRUM everday like the good ole' days. In this real non-ideal world would it be possible for a simple post saying "No TRUM today", check back XXXXXday... or something like that?

If not, no big deal.

Chat Room Browser Compatibility Problems

What browsers are compatible with the Chat Room? I've a Mac and tried using Safari and Firefox. With Safari I could enter the chat room and see all the conversations but couldn't type anything. And with Firefox the program crashes when trying to open the chat room.

I would absolutely love to see a return of the TMR to the Sunday night chat schedule for baseball season.

I'm know Matt's schedule is more than chock full since moving to the great state of CT -- so maybe he and Pete Becker could alternate Sunday nights.

Any chance of this, or is it just wishful thinking on my part at this point considering the ESPN factor?

Problem with the REP Excel sheet

It works fin on PC's. But on my mac it shows an error when you click on any of the sorting options (Points/AL$/NL$/ML$). I have enabled Macros.

Microsoft Visual Basic pops up and presents this error:
Run-time error 1004
Application-defined or object-defined error

I click on debug and the following section is highlighted:

Selection.Sort Key1:=Range("AA8"), Order1:=xlDescending, Header:=xlGuess _

Hope someone can help.

So, here's your chance. If you're on this site, it means you're a hard core fantasy player and one that hasn't been 100% satisfied with the major media sites. So... if you were suddenly given a magic wand, what would YOU do?

Like the rest of the message board, this thread is place for helpful suggestions and not a place to flame or slag anyone or anything. I don't care about the past... only the future. If you were me, what would YOU do going forward....?

No NCAA Guide?

After reading yesterday's (3/11) TRUM, I walked away feeling nothing but disappointed. As a Premium Member, which I have been for a few years, I have had my reservations regarding the deal with ESPN. Pending some resolution to the current issue, I fear these reservations might be coming to fruition.

In the TRUM it was mentioned that you are not posting an NCAA Guide this year because you were so impressed with ESPN's information. However, as with most things on ESPN, you have to be an Insider to get access to this information that is going to make us "very, very happy."

In addition, in previous postings/TRUMs, if I recall correctly, it has been mentioned that Premium Members of this site will receive Insider Access to ESPN, at least for a specified time period. To be honest, I do not recall exactly what the proposal was, but I believe this to be somewhat accurate.

I can only speak for myself, but I have to believe that others will agree, that it is unreasonable to expect your paying members here to pay an additional fee to join EPSN to obtain/view this information.

I hope that you see the inequity in this situation, and do something to rectify it - either by posting the Guide on this site, or getting your Premium Members immediate access to the information on ESPN.

Wanted to use the lineup optimizer, but it runs the weeks Sun to Sat. Is there an option to run it Monday to Sunday as I suspect most weekly leagues use Monday through Sunday scoring weeks.

Your TRUM today was very well written. I especially enjoyed the Simon and Kaufmann back story.

But given the amount of shame you were casting about...yeah, I felt a little guilt for not completely trusting Matt and Pete...I have to think you may have woken up with an epiphany on this first day of lent. Being Catholic, it doesn't take a whole lot for me to feel guilty. Just toss a few L-bombs and T-bombs around (that would be Loyalty and Trust respectively) and you can make any guilt ridden Catholic drop to his knees whimpering a few Mother Mary's.

All sarcasm aside, I hear your point as I think most members do. I feel that for the most part, the members are trusting of Matt and his decisions. But you have to realize that this TMR site is a service, a paid service. And as is the nature of all services that we pay for, it is very common to ask: "what's in it for me?"

Small Draft Kit observation

I am not sure if this a Rotopass issue, a draft kit issue or just a website issue, and it might not be an issue for long but I access premium content via my account at Rotopass. I go into the draft kit and choose a file to peruse. Most of the documents in here take a few minutes to digest. When I return to the draft kit after about 5 minutes or more I cannot switch to another document without going back and logging into Rotopass again and then going through the TMR pages to the draft kit again. It is like it times me out or something. This really isn't a big issue but it is a little annoying.
BTW, the draft kit is still the tops, nice work.

Is there a NHL Player News? And a suggestion...

I was wondering if something happened to whoever was suppose to update the Player News in the NHL section. It hasn't been updated since Los Angeles played against Anaheim in December 3rd last mentioning Alexander Frolov. Also, I try to get to the NHL Player News page and it gives this message instead of player news: 'A new and improved stats section is on the way! Hang in there...' Ok, now the suggestion. It would be kinda cool if we had all sports player news in XML or RSS format so that we can know about players pretty quick in case of injury, trade or other news. I have no clue how to make it but I would think it'd be pretty neat to have and have the opinions of whoever is writing about the player and the event involved with that specific player. Thanks!
