(current one is not as bad, btw, at least is is just flashing grey.)

1. Its annoying.

2. It hurts the performance of the site

3. It is a misleading add. Wants you to think you have won something special that others haven't. Even if they do give you the prize or the TV or whatever (if you jump through the hoops) EVERYBODY gets the "You are a winner ad/" Have you ever seen one that said "Sorry, you didnt win anything from our site, but click on it anyway!!!" :)

4. Ads like this, IMO, degrades the TMR site. Espeically when you combine it with the other annoying hyperlink/pop ups people have complained about.

5. Sure there are work-arounds. I paid for a premium membership, should I need to do all that to avoid these things?

6. Saying you sell the space not the ad just doesnt cut it for me. If it were my site and I thought an ad was not appropriate, bothered my members, or interfered with the enjoyment, quality or perception of the site, I wouldnt let it run. IF TMR does not have some sort of editorial control over the content of the ad, it should.

And, lastly, is TMR doing ok??? Does it need ads like this because not enough premium members? We lost the free Pigware replaced by something you have to pay for over and above the premium membership. Lots more ads on the site including ones that bother some people. Formatting problems, log-in problems, calculators that didnt calculate correctly and not fixed for a while after problem was pointed out on the boards. Questions or issues in the forums left unanswered, or not responded to. No IDP info yet. Some of th articles in the draft kit now out of date and so on. A lot of it is hard to put a finger on, just that things don't seem as "sharp" as last year, at least on the football side of things yet.

Hey, I run a web site, I know this aint cheap or easy, I just dont want to see TMR go away on me, relied on it too much last year

RE: WINNER WINNER WINNER...NOT ARGGGHHHH
The only problem with Mozilla is that you can't run a lot of "live scoring" sites.
Not true; just install the "IE Tab" plug-in, and the live functions work a charm...

RE: WINNER WINNER WINNER...NOT ARGGGHHHH
willbrinson@gmail.com (8/11/2006)
I got a case (50) of free video Ipods.

The only problem with Mozilla is that you can't run a lot of "live scoring" sites.
Too many sites still just work with IE at times, especailly the live scoring or live play by play sites with graphics

Hey, I could use an Ipod!!! These sites are all over the web, however, they have recently been getting very difficult to complete. About a year ago and before, these sites were cake to do.

RE: WINNER WINNER WINNER...NOT ARGGGHHHH

I got a case (50) of free video Ipods.

The only problem with Mozilla is that you can't run a lot of "live scoring" sites.

RE: WINNER WINNER WINNER...NOT ARGGGHHHH

Random are you being sarcastic or did you really get that stuff?

RE: WINNER WINNER WINNER...NOT ARGGGHHHH

Easy solution: Firefox.

Seriously, the best browser ever (free, of course). Install the Adblock and Flashblock extensions, and you will never be bothered by adds again.

RE: WINNER WINNER WINNER...NOT ARGGGHHHH

FYI - After countless days of research, I've actually completed many of these types of sites. I can honestly say that I have gotten many "freebies" as a result. A sample:

42" Plasma LG TV
$1,000 Check
2 $1,000 Pre-Paid Visas
20" Sharp Aquos TV/Monitor
Multiple $100 and $50 Pre-Paid Visas.

Most of these sites aren't scams, but they are worthy of many hours doing research for to determine if they are legit. You are right in saying the flashing in annoying. I've gotten used to scrolling down as soon as I log in to the site.

PS - I just clicked on the link to see what the offer was. Not good, IMO. 10 offers and refer two households to do the same. There are much easier ones out there.

RE: WINNER WINNER WINNER...NOT ARGGGHHHH

We sell the ad space, not the ad itself. We did request no gambling ads (yes, to protect ourselves from legal ramifications) and to keep the flash ads to a minimum, but the site's got to eat.

Appreciate that the annoyance factor keeps you from clicking, and frankly, that's the best reaction to an ad you don't like. If enough people ignore it, it gets noticed and pulled. If it keeps getting clicked, then the advertiser gets the attention it wants and the site gets credit for the clicks, allowing us to continue to support our devellopment.

And hey... it's it's giving you a headache, try HeadOn. Apply directly to the forehead! HeadOn. Apply directly to the forehead! HeadOn. Apply directly to the forehead!

WINNER WINNER WINNER...NOT ARGGGHHHH

The flashing WINNER WINNER WINNER ad for the plasma TV is VERY annoying. Not only is it a pain in and of itself, it interferes with the refresh rate on my computer making the letters I type in the messages here take a moment to appear.

Yeah I can scroll down to get it off my screen but that is anoying too.

And lastly, you know its a scam, everybody has "won" there is no real claim number that makes any difference. Really drags down the reputation of TMR IMO to have crap like that on the site.

I am one who DOES click on adds often if it is interesting, But I will NEVER click on that one.
