But you don't know when they're getting saves and it takes a shellacking by a starting pitcher not to earn you points. In a ten team league, you can stream starters so that you can consistently gain points, and "save" your closers for days when you don't have an legitimate starters to use. How many total points did Nathan (who you can't bench when the Twins play, right?) have before the All Star Break last year?

RE: how did my team turn out?

I agree somewhat with you but the top closers are the highest scoring pitchers. Last year the top 5 pitchers in our league were Santana, K-Rod, Nathan, Webb, Wagner. 13 of the top 30 pitchers were closers.
FYI a great closer has less blown saves then a great starting pitcher has losses.

RE: how did my team turn out?

In a points daily league, burning 2 of your first 12 picks on closers (Nathan and Saito, conjecturing) seems like a waste to me, especially when you get negative 5 for a blown save. I really like your idea of stacking up your pitching, but it shouldn't have come at the expense of your offense.

Although admittedly the only issue I have with your starting offense is Dave Roberts, whose speed is worthless in this format compared to a power guy.

I really like Prince Fielder this year, but I think you could have used a pick that you spent on one of your closers by getting an established guy (yes I know you already have Thome) and then trading one away to improve pitching later. In this shallow a league that is points based, offense owns.

how did my team turn out?

C- Piazza
1-Prince Fielder
2-Howie Kendrick
3-Aramis Ramirez
SS-Jeter
OF - Sizemore, H.
