| Here they have one of the most skilled centers ever, and instead of running the offense through him they bring in Tracy McGrady, the master of the 1-on-3 offense.

They had to get something for Francis. Stevie was becoming a huge malcontent and Houston had about enough out of him. I see your point, but getting McGrady was huge in my opinion. A nice one two punch if you ask me. I'm curious to see how it plays out before completely dismissing the idea that Ming and T MAC could thrive together. I agree with you somewhat due to the fact that McGrady will have to be less selfish if he wants to win and that Ming is definitely 'one of the most skilled centers ever'.
Just curious, who do you think the Rockets should've traded for if not T MAC? Maybe your idea makes more sense.

The reason (branching off Dave's logic) that this deal has great potential for both teams stems from the fact that both McGrady and Francis hated their respective teams/offenses/philosophies last year. If you watched T-Mac playing in Orlando the poor dude just looked sooo bored. He'd Take the ball outside the arc, dribble around for 5 seconds, then launch on off-balance 3 because Doc Rivers (or whoever) couldn't yell at him because nobody on the team was gonna get off a better shot anyway. Francis looked like a penned up bird-dog in Van Gundy's system. Poor guy just wanted to run. Expect T-Mac to experience some growing pains, but nothing on the level of Francis under Van Gundy. T-Mac's more interested in the success of the team, and should be more willing to do what's asked of him w/o bitching.

I have heard that Brent Barry may be signed by the Rockets. That would fill the void at PG pretty nicely IMO.

Brent Barry is good option at PG. However I'd like the Rockets to get someone like Troy Hudson. Someone who can score in spurts and with enough speed to run with T-Mac on the transition. They already have Jim Jackson to hit the 3s on kick-outs from the post.
Maybe Troy Hudson's not the best choice but I'd like them get someone energetic to lift the tempo when needed. Barry is solid but too monotonous (not to mention 32 yrs old)

Troy Hudson is sticking in Minnesota. He opted out to give McHale the oppurtunity to pay him the right amount.
