This is a story on one of fantasy hockey's impact players, JOE THORNTON, going to play in Europe for the upcoming hockey season. This could impact many keeper leagues and future drafts in hockey. Plan on being without him for this upcoming season, if there is one, in your hockey pools.

If there is an NHL season, Thornton will play here.

"Thornton, a restricted free agent, can opt out of the European contract if the NHL resumes next season and also if he can agree to terms with an NHL club, his agent J.P. Barry said in an interview."
He'll be here in Boston if there is an NHL season this year (which I doubt)... The B's have already lost O'Donnell and Knuble, and Rolston and Glen Murray are about to go elsewhere as well. I hate hockey...

There will be quite a few guys that go play in Europe, but all will have the out clause if there is a NHL season.
I think the new WHA will get its fair share of players as well, as for a lot of players there are teams in good cities and for some close to their homes.
