Message received from Motorcat:

I have noticed you have mentioned on at least two occasions of Jeff Burton getting fired from Roush Racing.

I think you should recheck your facts. Jeff Burton left Roush Racing last year when his contract expired, much to the dismay of Jack Roush. Burton's departure from Roush mostly centered on the inablity of Geoff Smith to land a full time sponsor. A problem that still plaques the 99 to date - note rotating sponsors on the 99.

Richard Childress Racing retained Cingular Wireless as a sponsor for Jeff Burton on the condition he would assume the ride at the start of the current season.

Jeff Burton left Roush Racing when his contract expired late last year and went into the AOL #30 ride till Robbie Gordon's contract expired. Dave Blaney step out of the AOL #30 to accomadate Childress and Burton. He was rewarded by Richard Childress for this by inheriting the Jack Daniels #07 ride this current season

At no time was he fired from Roush Racing - perhaps a correction is in order. I just figured I would give you the courtesy of an e-mail instead of posting on the board.

Have a good one -

Motorcat is technically correct. Jeff Burton left of his own volition when his contract expired.

J-Burt has always been one of my favorites, and will reamin so as long as I have breath in my body. This is a retraction.

BTW: Carl Edwards is also one of my favorites if it matters. He's from Missouri, aside from being a great driver.

Hee hee. That's re-tread. My nickname. Retraction is a medical term for removal of something blocking an orifice.
