Team getting Benitez has only 1 CL (SVs), while team giving has 3 (league avg). Team needing CLs also wants 1Bs, and CShelton was one out of a group of: PBurrell, BWilkerson, JGibbons, JMichaels, CSullivan.
Is this deal even in a 12-team H2H? Any side win the deal? Thanks as always for the wise input!

Major win for the one getting Utley. The closer position so volatile that if he's getting a solid player like Utleyin return is a steal. Also, the team giving Benitez is pretty much set in 1B and power numbers if he gets Utley. Shelton is possibly splitting time with Pena so he might get all the PT, some or none. The other guy can recover with SV's from others over the course of the season.

| ...assuming he will reject, do I give him my highest-ranked OF (Pat Burrell) + ABenitez for Utley? Do I also bup up my CL offer to a better CL? TGordon and MGonzalez are my other CLs, and BWilker, JGibbons, JMichaels and CSullivan are my other outfielders [I've got Pujols, THaf, JCantu, JPeralta and RFreel to round out most of my hitting]. Thanks for the input!

It really depends on his view of closers and their value. Benitez is a good closer but you can always get cheap saves via the FA. Go for the original deal first (Shelton/Benitez for Utley) and if he rejects, ask him what he'd like with Benitez for Utley just so you get an idea. Personally, Burrell/Benitez for Utley seems a bit much for me but I'm bad at gauging close trades.
