Ok, guys.  You've seen the press release.  TMR is heading over to the Worldwide Leader and yours truly is now the Sr. Director of Fantasy for them.

So, here's your chance.  If you're on this site, it means you're a hard core fantasy player and one that hasn't been 100% satisfied with the major media sites.  So... if you were suddenly given a magic wand, what would YOU do?

Like the rest of the message board, this thread is place for helpful suggestions and not a place to flame or slag anyone or anything.  I don't care about the past... only the future.  If you were me, what would YOU do going forward....?

TMR

Firstly Congratulations! As you mentioned change is never easy, so part of me does wish the site stays as it is. However, I can understand why this is a no-brainer and I'm happy for you and the site.

Suggestions? Just port this message board over to ESPN.com . Keep some quality content free on ESPN.com the same as we have here. Never been a fan of the free content on ESPN.com. You need to be a ESPN Insider for anything marginally useful. The free articles on www.talentedmrroto.com are way better in quality than on most sites. Keep it that way.

Finally, I still want my daily TRUM. You hooked me to this stuff, you dare not stop it now. And please don't tone it down the way it happened when it ran on MLB.com.

Congratulations again and Best of luck!

Congrats boosman, they could not have found a better person to run their fantasy games.  I have a few suggestions, having played games on ESPN for a while:

1.  Maybe the new engine fixes this problem, but they need to do something about not being able to move players aound when they are involved in a pending transaction.  For instance, if I trade one of my players and that player is in my active lineup, I cannot bench him until the trade is completed.  This punishes people for trading.

2.  For premium leagues, something needs to be done about the prizes.  The hard core gamers are getting tired of T-Shirts, I think you could get away with charging more for premium leagues if you offered better prizes.

3.  You need to throw some bones to and recognize the hard core gamers.  There is an unofficial comitition on ESPN called Uber Wars.  It involves 10 league of EPSN's top gamers -- we are talking some people who buy 20 games per sport or more -- each league has at least 50 members, some upward of 200.  Anyway, many of the particpants in these leagues are getting fed up with ESPN, which could hurt sales.  Some sort of recognition of Uber Wars would do a lot to alay the frustrations of these gamers.

4.  Keep our live chats.  ESPN's chats are ok, but nothing compares to live chats, where all of the questions can be answered -- hopefully, unless we get too many poeple at the chats.

5.  Keep these message boards -- you knew I had to write that.

6.  Keep Sean Salisbury away from any fantasy game.

Congrats, Matt -- we (your loyal readers) all know you've been going through a lot lately, and have been right there with you through it. honestly, i've thought of you like a family member (in some kind of sick, fantasy-addict sort of way).

pursuant to the close relationship that I and many of your other readers, no doubt, have with you -- i guess my best suggestion is just not to forget the little people on the way to the top. remember who your readers are, and always make sure your people are writing to them, not to ESPN bigwigs. cliche, i know, but you are where you are because of how you've written to your readers up to now.

Good luck!

Congratulations, Matt.

With your hiring and the addition of the TMR staff, ESPN now has the best fantasy content anywhere, bar none.

ESPN is known for being the biggest and best in sports, it doesn't just do things, it does them in a grand way.  That's why I feel that the one thing missing is a high-stakes fantasy game.  I'm talking six-figure grand prizes, live drafts throughout the country and of course, a 1-hour special that airs at 2a.m. on the Deuce of the experts live draft, complete with commentary.  This would be akin to the World Series of Poker, only geekier.  You wouldn't have to worry about marketing.  Just a thought.

4.  Keep our live chats.  ESPN's chats are ok, but nothing compares to live chats, where all of the questions can be answered -- hopefully, unless we get too many poeple at the chats.

5.  Keep these message boards -- you knew I had to write that.

6.  Keep Sean Salisbury away from any fantasy game.

these three things cannot be stressed enough.  The sunday morning live chats during football season have been great.  Those stand out to me, but overall the live chats have been one of the parts of the site i've enjoyed the most.

any chance tmr.com can remain as almost a mirror site for all the content that'll now be on espn along with hosting the current messageboard and chat?  once all the espn yokels start using the messageboard over there it'll become cluttered with non-sense and probably more name-calling and much less good content.  (also, somehow tmr.com isn't blocked by my firewall, but espn's fantasy sections are)

please do not try to force 8000 espn personalities into the fantasy sports section.  especially not sean salisbury.

if espn is going free, please assure everyone that they can handle the load during peak draft season.  and maybe have more support ready during those peak draft hours so if things aren't running so smoothly there's staff there ready to help.
