short version:
my Vlad, his Cab: take it? (8 team Yahoo! standard 5x5 roto)

please though read on to the long version and counter offer ideas...
1) this was a counter to my offer of Torii Hunter(Y! season rank 14) for Cabrera (Y! 20th) and hunter had the edge in SB's in which he's last so i thought this was a (close enough to) fair deal to go through, but he says he's not going to try to catch up in steals as he's so far behind. for what it's worth, he's acknowledged that i'd be giving the "better" player in Vlad to get the tougher to fill 3B slot.

2) i already added Granderson to replace hunter in my OF, not sure i'm so happy thinking of him (or Bonds) as a fill in for Vlad since big V has been my RBI machine in that offense of the angels. i'm 4th in the cat, but 2nd-5th divided by only 7 RBIs.

... so better to counter another rare position with D.Lee for M-Cab?
... or try to get a pitcher as part of the deal for all Unit's risk, and possible later trade?
... or any other counters that you see based on our rosters?

3) avail. FA's include:
OF: Pierre, Cameron, Taveras, Cust, (or also Sammy, Duncan, damon, Drew, crisp, CBY ?)
1B: Carlos Pena, Dmitri Young, Adam LaRoche, (Sexton, Lamb?)
OF/1B: Huff, Nady, Stairs (youkillis i just dropped for granderson)
SP: Wolf, Gorzy, mussina, petitte, blanton, gaudin, McGowan, Buehrle
RP: Embree, Alfonseca, Shields

4) our current teams: (start 2SP, 2RP, 3P)
MINE: C-martin, 1b-D.Lee, 2b-Roberts, 3b-gordon, ss-O-cab, OF-Beltran, Vlad, Hunter; Util-Thome, BN- Frank Thomas, Granderson, Bonds (added just now when the Unit DL spot openned up) DL-Miggy Tejada
SP: Zambrano, Dice-K, C.C., Verlander (Unit, ouch, again)
RP: Gregg(sp/rp), Izzy, Accardo, Dotel, Reyes

HIS: c-estrada, 1b-konerko, 2b-b.phillips, 3b-m.cab, ss- Brendan Harris OF-hawpe, manny, Dunn, util-Hart, BN-bay, bill hall(3b/ss/of), Braun, DL-piazza
SP-j.santana, e.santana, lackey, peavy (shill on DL)
RP-- papellbon, capps, gange, wickman, dempster

5) category points:
mine: (2.5 runs, 1-HRs, 5-RBI, 7-SB, 8-BA, 6-W, 5-SV, 6.5-K, 6-ERA, 6.5-WHIP) = 53.5 points, 1st place (by 0.5)
his: (1-runs, 8-HRs, 3-RBI, 1-SB, 1.5-BA, 7-W, 4-SV, 5-K, 8-ERA, 8-WHIP)=46.5 for 3rd by 0.5

thanks for making it through to here !

im ok w/ the idea of Vlad for Cab and think it's a fairly even deal.  i like trading Hunter for Konerko though a bit better.

two part job as there's a new trading partner in the mix...

part one: to follow-up...
no interest shown at all for hunter>konerko, and he sat on a beltran for m-cab deal a week before i withdrew it as the news on cab's health was a bit troubling. assuming the news stays better on cabrera, i'm thinking of reopening offers with either beltran or Vlad. almost leaning for offering Vlad because of his lack of SB this season... better idea to offer beltran than vlad?

or may there be a lure in offering up a SS, as he dropped his IR'd Hall for the surging Tulowitski. would either of mine (orlando cabrera or the quickly recovering tejada) even be an upgrade enough for him to reconsider hunter? either one of my SS that you guys think will be better in the second half (i'm leaning towards trading tejada as i think i can get a bit more for him when he's healthy, and the guessing the production will be about the same. or listen to tTMR and go get bartlett right now?!)

or is it time to swallow my pride and make a lowball offer for Braun? (picked up gordon instead and been kicking myself ever since)

..btw he also dropped e.santana for javier vazquez. i guess he failed to notice the home/away splits on evrin.

part two
: owner #2...
posted, and emailed in his rejection of my first offer, that he wants starting pitching... looks promising, except he mostly just wants to sell Aaron Rowand and said he "can't give up his first baseman because he's already -10 in games played in the position." i think if he is willing to go for gordon (1b/3b eligible) and one of my pitchers (not Unit, he thinks randy's "washed up") for howard (or anyone else?) i should jump on it; but d.lee + pitcher for howard would be too steep?

his roster: c-posada(bn-varitek) 1b-howard, 2b-Utley, 3b-Blake, ss-guillen(bn-hardy) OF-Rios, Wells, Ichiro, victorino, (bn-Rowand) bn/"utility"- Youkilis SP- beckett, Blanton, halladay, smoltz(dl) RP-okajima, Borowski, heath bell, Fuentes(buy low?!)

... btw, i think i have my pitchers ranked (in terms of expected performance) any points of contention as i think about moving one of them?
1. CC (i call him "the rock" but he's really more like "the mountain")
2. zambrano (ace once again, and being managed well)
3. dice-k (getting better, but for the opps vs the top notch Tigers, knew i should have benched him for that last start)
4. verlander (probably the most stable of the bunch, but unexciting averages)
5. unit (health too unpredictable to move higher, but i sure don't mind keeping him)

note: my roster changes...

granderson > pierre (with a OF trade looking less likely i'm thinking of protecting a win in SB's may be better than holding an all-around guy who will get so little playing time. pierre plays when thome faces lefties.

bonds > embree (this spot probably goes to
frank thomas > alfonseca (both moves to keep getting saves while i can with unit still on DL and reyes on my bench hurting)

hope this hasn't gotten too complicated by all these options, just thought it better than starting a new thread... thanks again for any and all feedback.

I do not think he will see either of your SS as an upgrade.  I do not see any lowball offers working on Braun given the hype he has gotten lately.  Nothing wrong with dropping Santana for Vazquez as he can start Vazquez in most of his starts and Santana is in danger of going back to the minors.  I would not trade Lee and a starter for Howard, I think that would be too much to give up.
