10-team H2H league.
R, HR, RBI, SB, K, E, AVG W, L, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP |
C - Johjima (drafted) 1B - D. Lee (drafted) 2B - Figgins (FA) 3B - C. Jones (drafted) SS - O. Cabrera (drafted) CI - R. Howard (drafted) MI - Uggla (drafted) LF - Ibanez (drafted) CF - Pierre (drafted) RF - Guerrero (drafted) OF - Abreu (drafted) OF - Crisp (FA) Util - Hawpe (FA) Bench - LaRoche (FA) Bench - B. Hall [DL] (drafted)
SP - Penny (drafted) SP - J. Shields (FA) RP - Papelbon (drafted) RP - Gregg (FA) P - Broxton (FA) P - Okajima (FA) P - Betancourt (FA) P - Escobar (drafted) P - Maine (FA) Bench - Haren (drafted) Bench - Hamels (drafted) Bench - Oswalt (FA) DL - Al Reyes (FA) I'm next to last in HR totals. It's the only category where I have a losing record. My team ERA is slipping a little, but not too much. I've been leaning toward dropping Hall, but Ibanez might be the better choice now. Or maybe package one of the two with a pitcher for a power hitting left fielder (probably a better idea since I have to drop someone once Reyes & Hall are both off the DL). Or maybe something completely different? Any suggestions? On the wire: Pat Burrell Brad Wilkerson Ryan Garko Jonny Gomes Alex Gordon Billy Butler Ryan Spilborghs Shannon Stewart Corey Patterson Kelly Johnson
Carlos Marmol Fausto Carmona George Sherrill Matt Guerrier Kevin Cameron Ryan Franklin Matt Garza Phil Hughes

Well, you need to explore your trade options before you do anything else, but if you cannot manage a trade, I would drop Ibanez for Butler.

| Which, if any, pitcher would you offer in a trade? Before the break Yahoo! was saying to shop Haren and Penny. I would say Oswalt because of his high WHIP, but I'm not sure what I could get for him.

| I have a pending trade which will net me Carlos Lee. So, with that and taking Reyes off the DL I'll be losing Oswalt, Hall and Ibanez. That leaves me with an open roster spot. (I had also thought of dropping Crisp for someone, but if he keeps hitting triples like he has been recently he's bound to help in the R and RBI categories) Very intriguing wire options (from the list above): Billy Butler Julio Lugo Corey Patterson Fausto Carmona Carlos Marmol Phil Hughes Matt Garza I could essentially grab Hughes and put him on the DL leaving me with another open spot. I'm not really hurting anywhere except for HR, which makes me lean toward Butler since the other two guys are really only base stealers (the only guy with some pop and a good average is Garko). The only area in pitching that is getting slack is ERA, which is why I like Marmol. Carmona would get me more Ws than Shields, but I would only drop someone like Crisp to get him.
