So, I've been maintaining my first place lead in my h2h league, with almost a 30 game cushion.  We have 23 categories, with a handful of negatives (caught stealing, strikeouts, pitching losses, homers allowed).  I have tremendous depth across my entire team:

C - Martin

1B - Morneau and Swisher

2B - Figgins and Hudson

3B - Atkins, Zimmerman, Figgins

SS - Rollins

OF - Crawford, Manny, Torii Hunter, Corey Hart

SP - Peavy, Haren, Lackey, Felix, Snell, Lincecum, Gallardo, and Hughes (dl)

RP - Putz, Jones, Myers (dl)

I'm trying to free up a roster slot for either Hughes or Myers, and this trade does that.  Is Zimmerman and Felix too much to give up for Braun alone?  Braun seems to be a definite upgrade over both Atkins and Zimmerman.

The same owner may also trade me Hunter Pence for Manny Ramirez straight up.  Though I'm not sure about that one right now, as ManRam could get hot, and Pence return to normal.

Need some input from C-Dub and Ian please.

Made the deal on my own.  Decided that since Berry loved Braun a bit more than Zimmerman, it was a good deal for me.  I'm going to try and move Atkins and another pitcher, and try to consolidate some talent.  Maybe do another 2 for 1 or 2 for 2.

That maybe so, but I made the trade with the last place team, and they're 64 games behind me, so I'm not worried about it coming back to haunt me too much.  Braun has a better lineup around him, with more opportunity to drive in runs, and be driven in in turn.  Zimmerman doesn't have nearly the same protection.

From a pitching perspective, if Hernandez goes down again in the next month, then you guys may think better of this deal.  Plus, this is a shallow league, and guys like Randy Johnson, Andrew Miller, Harden, Schmidt, Arroyo, Garza, Slowey, and Capuano are still available.

Let me put it this way, one guy auto-drafted, had Putz selected in the ninth round, so he was potentially injured and dropped him outright.  I swooped in, dropped Borowski, picked up Putz to team with Jones and Myers, and I haven't looked back since.  That same guy has had to deal with Valverde, Dempster, and other dregs.

Lastly, I guess I was bored.  This was the first trade discussion that I've had since the third week of April that actually went somewhere.  I've been destroying the league, and no one wanted to make any trades with me at all.  Maybe they'll see that I didn't rake this guy over the coals, and the next trade I make, the one that puts me over the top to clinch by August, I might be able to pull off a little more easily.
