I am in a 10 team NL Only 4x4. We are going to be woefully short at 1B this draft with the best player available being S Casey. I am thinking of trade G Atkins $7 with 2 years left for A LaRoche $7 with one year left. Should I pull the trigger on this page, I am set at 3B with D Wright and M Cabrera.

Usually 3B is the more scarce position but from what you are saying there is actually a darth of 1B available in this league. Given that, I think that that is a good trade. I see Atkins and LaRouche as about equal this year and LaRouche is certainly no worse an option than Casey and this will save you the likely bidding war for 1B that will occur. Plus, you have no where to play Atkins anyway except for a utility position wheras you have 1B open.

| I like it. Casey and Atkins are similar values, so you are basically trading a position you don't need for one you do. Why wouldn't you?
