H2H 5x5
My first instinct is to sit both guys...Schmidt is 4-1 @ colorado, but with a 5.0-something ERA and the Giants offense has been horrible in his starts this year. Baltimore is tearing the cover off the ball right now, and destroyed Westbrook 2 days ago, and honestly I dont think that Wang is better than Westy.
It goes a little deeper than that though...my opponent and I are very very close in pitching right now.
I'm winning in Wins (2-1), ERA (3.07-3.08), and Whip (0.92-1.06)
I'm losing in Ks (23-24) and Saves (0-2)
So the margin for error is very slim. (and as a side note, my hitting is in the crapper this week, so the overall score is 5-5).
I'm starting Lee vs Royals today for sure.
My other options the rest of the week are Bush vs Cincy (questionable start at best), Byrd @ KC (Starting), D Cabrera @ Yankees (dangerous start), and Davies @ Was (reasonable start).
His options are Lackey @ Oak, Bannister @ SD, Young vs NYM, and Claussen @ Mil.
He has, in my opinion, more quality start options than I do.
So...given way more info than you probably wanted to read...what do you think?
Sit these guys who have solid win/K potential in order to spare my ERA/Whip lead and then play it by ear the rest of the week?
Or play my guys to build Ws and Ks and hope that his ERA/Whip goes up faster than mine?
Thanks

I would bench both, IMO. It's still early in the season so I would imagine you could get away with saving your ERA and WHIP while risking W's on easier matchups. Averages are harder to recover by the end of the week so don't feel bad about benching both.

| Thank you for the thoughts Postman! Sitting them is the way I was leaning, and that's what I'll be doing.
