Several years ago I was visiting my parents near Tampa and went to see them play the Leafs. It was a brutal game for Tampa and Toronto dominated them all night. Late in the 3rd the fans booed their own power play prompting me to yell "Aw come on, it's not like you're used to good hockey!"
Now Tampa is hockey central and they get to parade the cup around in all their hometowns. And my Leafs, sadly not a sniff at the cup in almost my entire lifetime.
I guess those years of stinking really did help Tampa, they at least got some young talent out of it, the Leafs only have Harold Ballard as an excuse (and no young talent).

The Leafs have NO excuse.

There's nothing of the Ballard era left. All we have is a board of directors willing to pin our Stanley Cup hopes on Ed Belfour's wonky back and a roster composed mostly of players old enough to be my father.

I love the Leafs, they're my team do or die... but I'm expecting a lot more dying again this year. (If...)
