Anaheim trades Steve Rucchin to Rangers for career minor-league tough guy Trevor Gillies, who played last year in 49 games for Hartford (AHL), racking up 277 PIM to go with his 2 assists. Gillies had 277(2G-1A) the year before, 332(2G-2A) in 02-03, and a high mark of 341(2A) playing for three teams in 2001-02.
New cop in town.

Heatley is just the sort of guy to explode with the right talent around him. This is a great move by the Sens.

The D-man was Greg de Vries.

ya i was at the cottage when i found out about the Hossa and De Vries for Heatley, i was getting ready for the night of drinking around the bon fire while the news hit their sports roundup and being here in Ottawa, it was all the talk in the papers for a few days

this trade improved Ottawa's odds from 12 to 1, to 10 to 1 for winning the Stanley Cup...why?

this year...id much rather have Hossa, sure this move frees up the 2 million plus that De Vries was making, and Heatley is making 4.5M this year, but the local papers could not get over how risky this deal is with Heatleys left eye, since the injury hes been off and on, more off than on... they say if its not 100% it will affect his depth perception, Heatley insists his eye is not a problem but i guess us Sens fans are going to have to wait and see

hopefully this lets us lock up our defenseman next year, Chara is killer

Robert Esche is solid
